The Alliance Coffee - A partnership with Black & White Coffee Roasters

February 1, 2019

We at Flair Espresso are excited to officially announce the launch of The Alliance, a single origin bean roasted in partnership with Black + White Coffee Roasters specifically for use on any Flair Espresso Maker; Classic, Signature or PRO. Starting February 1st, this coffee is available in 12oz bags from our webstore only.

Since the launch of the first Flair Espresso Maker in 2016, we have understood that our humble manual press' quality is a reflection of the beans put inside of it. We've had hundreds of customers ask us for coffee recommendations and we ourselves are always searching for the perfect cup. Enter Kyle Ramage and Lem Butler, the principals behind Black & White Coffee Roasters in Wake Forest, North Carolina, who have the notable distinction of taking 2016 and 2017 U.S. Barista Champion titles respectively. Not only that, but they coached each other to those wins.

Each have brought more than a decade long experience in specialty coffee with them to their business, having worked for well-respected companies such as Counter Culture Coffee and Mahlkönig USA, in addition to private consulting and ambassador positions for the likes of Ally Coffee. It’s fair to say, together, they know coffee inside and out, from seed to cup. We couldn’t hope for better partners to collaborate with on a coffee that is guaranteed to shine when paired with our Flair Espresso Makers.

We asked them to set off in search of single origin coffee that hits all the right notes for an espresso extraction, particularly from a manual lever machine. What they came back with was Las Brisas, a fully-washed and sundried coffee from the Rioblanca – Tolima region of Colombia. If black cherry, caramel and milk chocolate hits all the right ‘notes’ in your mind for what a well-balanced espresso should taste like, we think you’ll be pleased with this offering roasted on their 15-kilo Loring. Taken black or with milk, this one won’t disappoint.

According to Kyle, the goal of Black & White has always been to produce sweet, clean coffee that is easy to extract to make it easier for people to enjoy great coffee at home, with affordable brewers like the Flair Espresso Maker. The Alliance proves they’re making good on that promise.
